What Are The Distinctive Features Of Artificial Leather?
Artificial leather refers to synthetic leather or other leather-like products that are actually artificially synthesized from basic chemical raw materials. Artificial leather is also called imitation leather or rubber, which is a general term for artificial materials such as PVC and PU. It is made by foaming or laminating PVC and PU of various formulations on a textile cloth base or a non-woven cloth base. It can be processed according to different strength, wear resistance, cold resistance, color, gloss, pattern and other requirements. It has the characteristics of a wide variety of colors, good waterproof performance, neat edges, high utilization rate and relatively cheap price compared to genuine leather. However, the feel and elasticity of most artificial leathers cannot reach the effect of genuine leather; its longitudinal section can see tiny air bubbles, cloth base or surface film and dry artificial fibers.
What are the obvious characteristics of artificial leather?
Artificial leather can be divided into three categories according to different ingredients: PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PE (polyethylene), PU (polyurethane), and their chemical products are also different.
Characteristics of artificial leather:
1. Uniform thickness, smooth surface, no natural defects, uniform pores and patterns, and generally no lint in the leather.
2. Uniform texture, no injuries, no rough lines, and no defects.
3. Water absorption and elasticity are not obvious.
4. It feels like plastic, with poor recovery, and the thickness of the folds is similar when bent.
5. Strong plastic smell, no fur smell.
6. After burning, the flame is strong, shrinks quickly, and has a very unpleasant plastic smell. It becomes sticky after burning, and hardens into blocks after cooling. The combustion products of artificial leather materials, such as chlorine compounds, chlorine gas, nitrogen-containing compounds, etc., are harmful to the human body. Therefore, we cannot burn these artificial materials casually.
